Implant retained dentures work in a similar way to traditional dentures and can be used to replace a whole arch of teeth. Where they differ, is that instead of being held in place via an adhesive, they are held in place via implants. These implants are titanium screws designed to act as the new ‘root’ for the teeth, with prosthetic dentures clipped in place on top of them.
Implant retained dentures require coming into the practice several times to receive the treatment, over the course of four months or so. First, as with all implant treatments, it’s important to ensure the patient is a good candidate for the treatment, which will be done via a CBCT Scan. This will help determine if there is enough healthy jawbone present to fuse with the implants.
Implant retained dentures offer patients one of the most secure and comfortable ways to replace multiple missing teeth. They are also highly durable, and have a very natural-looking finish, and can even help enhance and improve a smile. While the process of receiving implant retained dentures can take a few months, patients invariably feel the wait is worth it. They are happier and more confident and comfortable with their new smile than ever before.Back to Dental Implants
